Markus Stenz conducts Mozart's Requiem at the Concertgebouw: Robeco SummerNights
About the Event
Fear, hope, love, resignation: ingredients of Mozart's masterly Requiem. Markus Stenz leads the Great Broadcasting Choir, the Radio Philharmonic and international top soloists.
Mozart Requiem
Mozart composed in boxrooms and restaurants. During the births of his wife. And on his own deathbed. The latter fact is inextricably linked to the Requiem, Mozart's incomplete, last piece of music. At the same time, this masterpiece does not need any extra drama. Mozart gives a human dimension to the ecclesiastical texts of the Requiem Mass, with all imaginable accompanying emotions. Fear, hope, love, resignation, they all have a place in the Requiem. This summer evening you will hear the Groot Omroepkoor and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. Markus Stenz conducts.
Markus Stenz
Markus Stenz, chief conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, is very well versed in Mozart's operas. Today he gives his vision on the Requiem. Flanked by soprano Sumi Hwang, who performed for 300 million television viewers during the opening ceremony of the Winter Games in PyeongChang. Next to this winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition you will hear the renowned bass Matthew Rose and the warm mezzo of Lilly Jørstad. The 'storyteller' (De Gelderlander) tenor Robin Tritschler completes this international line up.
