Manu Delago & Friends im Wiener Musikverein
About the Event
“Handpan. Drums. Composition”: Manuel Delago's short biography begins laconically. Born in Innsbruck, he showed his love for drums in particular and music in general at the age of two. Active in various bands as a teenager, the musician and composer also studied in Salzburg and London – and has been performing in formations he founded himself for almost 20 years, now in more than 50 countries on six continents. That's why his fans have long known what the term “handpan” means. What looks a bit like a metal turtle shell is, from a musical and technical point of view, a fairly new musical instrument: a two‐shelled percussion idiophone made of sheet steel with several tone fields on the upper side. Together with the melodious three‐part songs of Tyrolean singers Heidi Erler, Mimi Schmid, and Anna Widauer from Mad about Lemon, as well as the sound artists led by Jules Buckley, Manuel Delago, who will have his hands full (and more) on the handpan and drums, guarantees a plugged‐in experience in a class of its own.
