Mahler: The Titan at Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
The Mahler weekend begins with the master's first symphony: it offers the best introduction to the Austrian composer's work, as it delights connoisseurs and novices alike with its numerous folk song references (even the “Bruder Jakob” is included). “For me, Mahler sums up the entire history of music that came before him,” says conductor Paavo Järvi, chief conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra, who previously conducted Dvořák's Cello Concerto — probably the most popular work ever for this instrument.
