Mahler Academy Orchestra: Mahler's Symphony No. 9

About the Event

Mahler's Ninth Symphony resonates as a poignant farewell to the old Europe. Rather than struggle or redemption, his final completed symphony echoes quiet acceptance. The Mahler Academy Orchestra is returning to Amsterdam, led by Philipp von Steinaecker. Using authentic instruments and a fresh, inquisitive approach, they breathe life into Mahler's work. 'I am fascinated by recordings of performances that make you feel like you're hearing the piece for the first time,' remarks Von Steinaecker.
