Madame Pompadour
About the Event
This operetta by Leo Fall about the historic figure Marquise Pompadour, the mistress of the French King Louis XV, will be presented at the Volksoper Vienna.
Leo Fall's operetta, first performed in 1922 in Berlin, concerns the historic figure of Marquise Pompadour, mistress of the French King Louis XV. With its daring satiric elements and some potential hit numbers such as "Heut könnt einer sein Glück bei mir machen" [Today, someone may find happiness with me] and "Joseph, ach Joseph, was bist du so keusch" [Joseph, oh Joseph, why are you so chaste], "Madame Pompadour" was a huge success.
