About the Event

All three of them had been foreign workers at their times and made good money with lively dances for splendid balls: Jacopo Moderno of the Croatian town of Buzet made a career as a printer in distant Lyon and published one of the most beautiful collections of dance music named „Musique de Joye“. Englishman William Brade enchanted the female Hamburg audience with gentle melodies and lively rhythms. And organist Samuel Scheidt exploited the Hanseats’ love for dance and wrote several „Ludi Musici“ in Halle in German Saxony. Jordi Savall clothes their cheerful music in the opulent sound fabric of a large Renaissance consort.
