Leonidas Kavakos & Enrico Pace at Pierre Boulez Saal
About the Event
In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Schubert, Schumann and Bartók at Berlin's treasured and world‐renowned Pierre Boulez Saal.
The violin‐piano combination, as expressive and sonorous as it is fragile, is featured in Leonidas Kavakos and Enrico Pace's duo program, with four very different compositions spanning two centuries. In addition to works by Schubert and Schumann, we will hear Béla Bartók's Second Sonata, premiered in Berlin in 1923, and Kaija Saariaho's Chalices, dating from 2009.
Pierre Boulez Saal
The Pierre Boulez Hall is the hall of the Barenboim‐Said Academy. Designed by Frank O. Geary, the hall opened in March 2017 in Berlin, Germany. The hall was named in tribute to French conductor and composer Pierre Boulez, a name suggested by the Argentinian‐Israeli pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim. Despite being essentially a chamber venue, the structure has a cuboid shape that can accommodate medium‐sized orchestras, and up to 682 visitors. Architect and musicians alike seek to offer a 360 degree perspective on music, combining styles, cultures and viewpoints in the space.
Practical Information
Only vaccinated, recovered or tested persons (3G rule) will be admitted to events in the Pierre Boulez Saal. FFP2 masks are mandatory in the building at all times and must also be kept on once you are seated.
