Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Joana Mallwitz with Yulianna Avdeeva

About the Event

In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Frederic Chopin, Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky and C. F. Kip Winger at Berlin's treasured and world‐renowned Konzerthaus Berlin.

Experience the new chief conductor Joana Mallwitz on the podium of the Konzerthausorchester! On the program: Stravinsky's 'Le sacre du printemps', which was premiered in 1913 by Sergei Djagilev's Ballets Russes at the Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées in a choreography by the great dancer Nijinsky. The provocative ballet and the completely unfamiliar musical language brought the Paris premiere audience to a frenzy — partly with enthusiasm, partly with indignation. The famous scandal died down within a short time, however, and 'Sacre' became one of the great masterpieces of the 20th century.

Before that, 'Conversations with Nijinsky,' which rock musician C.F. Kip Winger wrote for classical orchestra in 2016, and with Chopin specialist Yulianna Avdeeva as soloist, the highly virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 by the 20‐year‐old composer will be heard.
