Jochen Kowalski — The witches' song
About the Event
'Go pray ye brethren and judge not'. These words end what is probably the most poignant melodrama in music history.
Chamber singer Jochen Kowalski and his pianist Matthias Samuil immerse themselves in the dark ages of the Middle Ages with their interpretation of Max von Schilling's masterpiece 'DAS HEXENLIED'.
With the melodrama 'Das Hexenlied' by Max von Schillings and Ernst von Wildenbruch, the contralto has ventured into a completely new musical and literary genre. The spoken word and the accompanying music go hand in hand here, creating a unique symbiosis.
The 'Hexenlied' can be heard in the second part of the concert. In the first part of the concert, rarely heard songs of the Fool from W. Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' by E. Humperdinck and some humorous songs of the Pierrot by the forgotten composer Max Kowalski will be performed.
