Jerome Robbins & Mats Ek: Paris Opera Ballet

About the Event

Two choreographers with radically different styles and artistic journeys are united for an evening and, both artists' works show sensitivity and offer a piercing vision of the world and human relationships.

Haunted by the music of Chopin, Jerome Robbins brings together five pairs of dancers who pass, meet, and meet again to the rhythm of a waltz or a mazurka. The precise and succinct choreography establishes a romantic atmosphere propitious to reverie. Mats Ek, a man of the theatre, devises eleven sequences like so many chronicles of everyday life.

Accompanied by the rock group Fleshquartet, the performers succeed one another in situations that are in turn cruel, tender, embittered or amusing.
