International Choir Competition Budapest: Budapest Spring Festival

About the Event

The 2013 Budapest International Choir Competition will get underway with an impressive start. Conducted by Gábor Hollerung, the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok will join forces with some fine Hungarian choirs – the Budapest Academic Choir Society, the Budapest Youth Choir, and the Cantemus Choir Nyíregyháza – to perform a grand oratorio each by György Orbán and Levente Gyöngyösi.

Orbán’s “psalm oratorio” is one of the most wonderful compositions of recent decades, while Gyöngyösi undertook a feat few would dare when he took Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 as the model for the structure of his own composition.
