About the Event
Igor Levit plays Brahms' First Piano Concerto – a work strongly influenced by Brahms' relationship with Clara Schumann. Personal elements also flow into the Enigma Variations, in which Edward Elgar paints musical portraits of his friends. The concert combines two works in which composers capture their surroundings in music – wild and passionate in Brahms, enigmatic and ironic in Elgar.
