I Virtuosi Italiani: Mozart and Salieri

About the Event

In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky and Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov at Verona's treasured and world‐renowned Teatro Ristori.
Mozart and Salieri is dedicated to Dargomyžškij's Stone Dweller, setting itself explicitly as a tribute to the composer who died almost thirty years earlier. A number of quotations from the Stone Convitee represent Rimsky‐Korsakov's further homage to Dargomyžškij while, predictably, numerous Mozart quotations are purposely integrated into the action in the first scene Mozart, blindfolded, plays on the violin a phrase taken from Don Giovanni in the second scene he intersperses in a passage the incipit of the aria “Voi che sapete” from the Marriage of Figaro, as well as numerous fragments from the Requiem.
