Hommage to Maréchal: Beauvais Cello Festival

About the Event

Actor Didier Sandre will read (in French) from the war notebooks of Maurice Maréchal, and Emmanuelle Bertrand will perform on a facsimile of Maréchal's "war cello".

Maurice Maréchal was a Frech cellist. When he joined the French forces in World War I, he convinced two comrades to build a rudimentary instrument on which he was able to play during his time in the military.

The Beauvais Cello Festival offers an opportunity to enjoy the deep sonorities of the cello in all of the instrument's many guises, from solo suites to Romantic concertos.
