François‐Xavier Roth, Jean‐Guihen Queyras & Les Siècles: Bizet & Saint‐Saëns, Salle Pleyel

In 2007, their CD of Bizet and Chabrier garnered innumerable honors, among them the Diapason d'Or and five stars from the magazine Fono Forum. Now, Les Siècles and founder François‐Xavier Roth offer a program of gems along with the eclectic Jean‐Guihen Queyras.

Queyras will present the cello concerto considered by Shostakovich and Rachmaninov to be the genre's greatest exemplar: Saint‐Saëns's first. And the same composer's Danse macabre, that perennial favorite, will be paired with Bizet's Jeux d'enfants (notably included in the aforementioned CD). Bizet's lively Symphony in C completes this offering of prototypical late nineteenth‐century French music.
