Final Concert, Rufus Wainwright: Dresden Music Festival

About the Event

Elton John has called him the 'greatest songwriter on this planet'. More than that, however, the 38‐year‐old Canadian Rufus Wainwright is not only at home in the world of rock and pop music, but also with classical music, theater, dance and film. Opera and literature provide him with endless sources of inspiration.

Now, this exceptional artist takes to the limelight at the final concert of the Dresden Music Festival. Excerpts from his opera 'Prima Donna', which had its premiere at the Manchester International Festival, and works like 'Five Shakespeare Sonnets', which Wainwright wrote following a commission from the San Francisco Symphony, provide an insight into his multi‐faceted oeuvre and ensure a brilliant finale for the 2013 Festival.
