Fauré Requiem: Stephansdom

About the Event

The Stephansdom Orchestra, the Sing mit! Festival Choir and guest soloists present Fauré's Requiem under the baton of Markus Landerer. Enjoy this great work by a French Master at St. Stephen's Cathedral in the heart of Vienna.

Gabriel Fauré, a pupil of Camille Saint‐Saens, wrote his Requiem between his father's death (1885) and that of his mother (1887). Nevertheless, the work differs in several aspects from a traditional death mass.

Originally written for a small ensemble, the Requiem was later arranged for an orchestra. The Stephansdom Orchestra and the Sing mit! Festival Choir perform together with soprano Ursula Langmayr and baritone Günter Haumer under the baton of Markus Landerer, Director of Music at St. Stephen's Cathedral.
