Église Saint‐Jacques‐le‐Majeur de Nice: Spanish Guitar & Bach Toccata
About the Event
Nestled in the stunning historic center of Nice, the Church of Saint‐Jacques‐le‐Majeur (Église du Gesù) offers a splendid backdrop for a remarkable concert highlighting 300 years of Spanish guitar music. This program traverses centuries of musical evolution, merging the guitar's expressive tones with the organ's magnificence. Audiences will experience Bach’s renowned Toccata and Fugue in D Minor alongside the Fantasia on Themes from Verdi’s La Traviata. Spanish masterpieces like Gaspar Sanz’s Canarios, Francisco Tárrega’s Recuerdos de la Alhambra, and Isaac Albéniz’s stirring Asturias demonstrate the Spanish guitar's rich tradition and virtuosity. Pieces by Agustín Barrios Mangoré and Antonio Vivaldi enrich the program with lyrical depth and dazzling contrast.
