About the Event

A splendid evening of orchestral music awaits, headlined by violinist Renaud Capuçon alongside the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Petr Popelka. Celebrating a fresh collaboration, the ensemble introduces conductor Petr Popelka and the Wiener Symphoniker. Previously the deputy principal double bassist at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden until 2020, the Czech conductor is now recognized as a rising star in the classical world. The program promises crowd‐pleasing selections, starting with Beethoven and venturing into the late‐romantic era under the orchestra's skilled lead. Handling the intricate and enchanting violin concerto by Korngold is renowned French violinist Renaud Capuçon. The performance's latter part features cherished waltz tunes, opening with Josef Strauss’s celebrated “Dynamiden” waltz and concluding energetically with the “Rosenkavalier” suite by Richard Strauss, a piece first performed by the Wiener Symphoniker in 1946.
