Don Carlos: Finnish National Opera

About the Event

A monumental drama in sombre tones — the Finnish National Opera presents Verdi's 'Don Carlos', this season.

Set in late Medieval Spain, this monumental drama of love, politics and power is being staged in a new, monumental production. There are fine moments in store as two magnificent bass voices clash in a Gothic landscape. Don Carlos is a co‐production with The National Opera of Prague.

When father and son love the same woman, tragedy ensues. Add to the mix Rodrigo, a nobleman willing to die for liberty; Elisabet, yearning for love; and the intimidating Grand Inquisitor. The result is a powerful drama that unfolds in a series of enthralling arias and duets. Don Carlos is Verdi at his finest, a veritable feast of voices.
