Dmitri Kitayenko & Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin: Prokofiev & Tchaikovsky
About the Event
Revel in a Russian rhapsody. Kitayenko conducts the music of Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky at the head of the Konzerthaus Orchestra, with celebrated Italo‐Russian violinist Sergei Krylov as his guest.
The familiar strains of Prokofiev's music for the ballet suite in 'Lieutenant Kijé' begins a musical journey to the heart of Russia, taking us via the composer's Second Violin Concerto, which starts with a simple Russian folk melody. Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony concludes the concert — a work that explores the strong strain of fatalism that is often perceived in the Russian character.
