Choreographer Mourad Merzouki, hailing from a banlieue in Lyon, has achieved worldwide success with his groundbreaking work. In his production "Vertikal," he seamlessly merges breakdancing with ballet, captivating audiences around the world. Merzouki's renowned dance troupe, Compagnie Käfig, derived its name from a choreography created in 1996. Since 2009, the company has been based in Créteil, near Paris, where they present a dynamic blend of urban and contemporary dance styles. Drawing inspiration from the streets and the vibrant hip‐hop culture, the dancers of Compagnie Käfig push artistic boundaries and challenge traditional notions of dance.
