Capriccio: Theater an der Wien
About the Event
In his final opera, Richard Strauss draws from a vast array of operatic forms to create his "artistic legacy". Maria Bengtsson sings the Countess under the baton of Bertrand de Billy in Vienna.
For Strauss, "Capriccio" was intended to be a "treat for cultural connoisseurs." The composition uses musical forms from 300 years of opera history.
