Bösendorfer Series: Severin von Eckardstein
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.
Severin von Eckardstein is known for his diverse and broad choice of repertoire, so his program this Thursday at De Waalse Kerk is anything but conventional. Thus the evening begins with an unfinished piano sonata by Schubert, and we hear his own arrangement of Richard Strauss' orchestral tone poem Tod und Verklärung. After intermission, Von Eckardstein makes the piano sing in two shorter Russian works, Rachmaninov's song The Muse which comes from the same set as his well‐known Vocalise, and a movement from the set Fairy Tale by the late romantic Nicolai Medtner. Chopin's complete Impromptu closes this special program. Written for the intimacy of the French salon, these beautiful works come out beautifully in the intimate setting of our church, making them a dream ending.
