Bösendorfer Series: Marietta Petkova

About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.

Celebrated pianist Marietta Petkova knows how to touch her audience deeply time and again. Behind every note is an intensity and musicality that leaves no one unmoved.
This program focuses on the three Nocturnes by Frédéric Chopin and the Preludes by Claude Debussy — poetic masterpieces that are among the most beautiful works in piano literature. Around these anchor points, a colorful and varied musical landscape unfolds. Glinka's Memory of a Summer Evening in Madrid, for example, features lively Spanish dances such as the jota and seguidilla, and Béla Bartók's Music of the Night shows the mysterious, unpredictable power of nature. A particularly personal moment is the performance of Nocturne by Bulgarian composer Stoyanov, a work with which Petkova has had a deep connection since childhood. It is a lyrical jewel, rooted in the Bulgarian folk soul.
