Bösendorfer Series: Duo Pleyel — Richard Egarr & Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya

About the Event

Experience the breathtaking architecture of Amsterdam's De Waalse Kerk and immerse yourself in an extraordinary concert that will awaken your understanding of music.

The evening commences gently with Debussy's Prélude à l'après‐midi d'un faune, originally composed for orchestra but arranged for four hands by the contemporary composer, Ravel. Following is Ravel's Ma Mère L'oye suite, which was initially written for two children in his circle of friends who were both skilled pianists. Ravel later orchestrated the suite a year later.

After a brief intermission, the audience will be treated to Fauré's Dolly Suite, a charming composition dedicated to his mistress' young daughter. Interestingly, it was this same woman that Debussy later married. The evening's program concludes with Debussy's Petite Suite, bringing the audience full circle through a delightful journey of French salon music.
