Boreyko, Buniatishvili & Orchestre de Paris: Liszt, Lutoslawski & Tchaikovsky
About the Event
Rise up with pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and conductor Andrey Boreyko at the Orchestre de Paris in an evening of works relating to revolution.
It was after the issue in Poland of the manifesto of progressive artists that that Lutosławski conceived this orchestral concerto. Composed in 1954, it is raw, dynamic and powerful.
Liszt himself was the inventor of the symphonic poem. His two concertos are vastly different from each other; one is a masterpiece of the salon and the other of the proletariat.
The second half of the concert includes Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3. It is evokes passionate sounds from an orchestra that could make even the stones weep.
