Immerse yourself in the stunning atmosphere of the Brunnenhof in Munich's Residence for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of opera music.
The Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera offers practice‐oriented support for highly talented young singers who wish to be prepared for an international career. After a multi‐stage selection process, the Opera Studio supports the selected talents for two years in the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera. The singers are directly integrated into the opera company and take on small to medium‐sized roles in productions. In addition, they receive a comprehensive support programme that includes vocal and role studies, acting lessons and selected master classes.
The highlight of the opera year is a new production which is produced especially for the opera studio and in which all singers participate. This production celebrates its premiere at the Cuvilliés Theatre in late spring.
The Opera Studio was founded in its present form in the 2006/07 season and is artistically directed by Tobias Truniger. In addition to ten singers, the Opera Studio also includes two pianists, who also go through an application process and are supported within the framework of the programme. The promotion of young talent also has a high priority in the work of the Bavarian State Opera under the artistic direction of Serge Dorny.
Practical Information
In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Allerheiligen Hofkirche of the Residenz.
