Beethoven's Ninth at Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
We have rescheduled the end of the year! Instead of the traditional time, we will be performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, commonly associated with the turn of the year, in early December. This performance follows Monteverdi's 'Christmas Vespers' that took place the day before. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony combines secular and spiritual elements, notably seen in the religious Adagio and the hymn‐like final choruses. Speaking of choirs, it is worth mentioning that this performance will be conducted by Philippe Herreweghe, who previously collaborated with Patricia Kopatchinskaja in May for Brahms and Schumann. With his choral and vocal background, Herreweghe is the ideal conductor to bring out the heavenly lightness in Beethoven's intensely resonant singing voices.
