Aram Khachaturian meets JAZZ: Benefit Concert — Aid for Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh
About the Event
Under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia H.E. Viktor Yengibaryan and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia, Dr. Christine Sasse, the Board of Directors of the European Cultural Foundation EUROPAMUSICALE organizes the benefit concert: Help for Armenians in Bargkarabakh with the Armenian Colors Jazz Quartet.
The net proceeds from ticket sales and your donation will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to Armenians who have lost their homes due to ethnic cleansing.
The Foundation is working with the German‐Armenian Association DAV Social e. V., based in Munich, to ensure that these urgently needed funds are used effectively on the ground.
Specifically, aid is focused on providing basic necessities to needy families with young children.
The desire for self‐determination has deep roots in Armenia's more than 3000‐year history and cultural identity. The composer Aram Khachaturian embodied this identity in his music and inspired the Armenian people to fight for freedom.
A. Khachaturian, a master of classical music, incorporated traditional Armenian melodies and rhythms into his compositions, much like jazz musicians incorporate improvisation and personal expression into their music.
His music reflects Armenians' yearning for freedom and self‐determination, and this year would be his 120th birthday.
The quest for independence and self‐determination of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno‐Karabakh shares universal values with jazz.
This musical genre was born out of a desire for individual expression and freedom, and reminds us how the longing for self‐determination and the power of music unite us all.
The recent tragic events and the expulsion of Armenians from Nagorno‐Karabakh have caused a humanitarian catastrophe with the potential for escalation.
Yet Khachaturian's music and the message of jazz remain a symbol of hope and resistance as Armenians continue to fight for their rights and cultural identity.
