Leonardo García Alarcón leads his acclaimed ensemble, with stage direction from Olivier Lexa, in excerpts from L'incoronazione di Poppaea, Il Ritorno d'Ulisse and L'Orfeo. A selection of Monteverdi's exquisite madrigals completes the program — works to compete with any great Romantic song cycle for the depth and breath of their emotional range.
