Akiko Suwanai, Henri Demarquette, Michel Portal & Michel Dalberto: Wartime
About the Event
Half of France was occupied by Germany, and the other half was subject to the Pétain government at Vichy. From armistice to liberation, the musical life of these black years was torn between exile, resistance and collaboration.
The works on tonight's program were all, in one way or another, products of their composers' experiences of war -- from Milhaud to Koechlin.
