Although she tends to avoid the limelight, Argentine pianist Martha Argerich is widely recognized as one of the great piano virtuosos of our time.

Argerich was still in her teens when she won both the Geneva International Music Competition and the Ferruccio Busoni International Competition. In 1965, she triumphed at the seventh International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Since then, she has become one of the foremost pianists in the world, performing primarily concerto and chamber music repertoire, but also giving the occasional solo recital.
