Ermonela Jaho at Teatro de la Maestranza
Seville, Teatro de la Maestranza — Sala Principal
About the Event
Experience an enchanting night of opera with the illustrious Ermonela Jaho at the beautiful Teatro de la Maestranza.
There are voices of extraordinary quality, with superb technique and an incomparable timbre. There are singers capable of giving their all in every performance and in every role. And then there is Ermonela Jaho, for whom singing is almost a matter of life and death. The soprano who has embodied so many women on stage can only take the stage to sing if she has first fully embraced the character with her whole being. No wonder she considers every performance a moment of surrendering her own self in exchange for bringing to life a character who, until that moment, was pure fiction.
Every appearance by Ermonela Jaho (her 2021 Butterfly at our theater was unforgettable) is an event. Her remarkable story of overcoming adversity—from her native Albania, where she discovered a passion for opera at a very young age, through Italy, where she trained, to reaching the world’s most prestigious stages—is a testament to an extraordinary woman. This is all the more true when she is accompanied by Rubén Fernández Aguirre, one of the accompanists who best understands the female voice—specifically, that of a soprano who, by giving voice to other lives, has earned her place among the greatest.
