About the Event

Dive into the enchanting world of Modern Sounds: Piano music in Rome, presented at the iconic Museo Santa Francesca Romana.

Join pianist Monica Ferracuti for an evening of immersive and atmospheric music featuring four contemporary composers—Roberto Cacciapaglia, Ludovico Einaudi, Aurelio Porfiri, and Monica Ferracuti herself—all sharing a modern yet profoundly expressive approach to the piano.

The concert begins with a compelling collection of works by Roberto Cacciapaglia, one of Italy’s most innovative composers, known for blending classical tradition with electronic, spiritual, and minimalist influences. His pieces, including Sarabanda, Oceano, Wild Side, and Seconda Navigazione, are meditative soundscapes defined by resonant harmonies and expansive melodic lines, inviting introspection while staying emotionally direct and deeply human.

The program continues with three piano pieces by Aurelio Porfiri, a composer whose work delves into the poetic and mystical realms of sound. Serendipity, Shadows, and Meditation on “Da pacem Domine” explore introspection through clarity, refined counterpoint, and a sense of quiet transcendence. Porfiri’s music bridges spiritual reflection with contemporary language, offering moments of stillness and inner radiance.

Following the intermission, the concert shifts to the intimate and globally celebrated artistry of Ludovico Einaudi, one of today’s most beloved composers. His pieces—Nuvole Bianche, Una mattina, Passaggio, and Primavera—are epitomes of modern minimalism, blending simplicity, emotional depth, and a cinematic atmosphere. Their genuine sincerity and melodic immediacy have captivated audiences worldwide.

The program concludes with two original compositions by Monica Ferracuti, Promenade and Thriller, which highlight her artistic persona: elegant yet rhythmically vibrant, expressive yet deeply rooted in contemporary musical culture. As both performer and composer, Ferracuti offers unique insight and authenticity, ending the evening with a personal creative voice.

A concert of reflection, lyricism, and modern beauty—portraying the piano not only as an instrument, but as a landscape of emotions, memories, and poetic imagination.
