A performance‐concert combining narrative and music, inspired by the evening court of the Gonzaga. Giovan Battista Guarini's Pastor Fido, a late 16th‐century pastoral drama, is brought to life through Guarini's narrative voice and performances of madrigals by Monteverdi and contemporaries. The concert includes arias, duets and concerted madrigals, bringing to the stage the stories of nymphs and shepherds in a mythical Arcadia.
