Sala Dante at Palazzo Poli
This distinguished and graceful room, lauded for its magnificence and unique vantage point over the Trevi Fountain, resides within Palazzo Poli, the edifice supporting the fountain itself. Constructed in the 1720s to enshrine the Duke of Poli's prized library, Sala Dante also served as a venue for festivities. On 26 February 1866, it was inaugurated to the strains of Dante's Symphony by Franz Liszt, who graced the occasion. By the late nineteenth century, Sala Dante had gained prominence in musical culture, attracting luminaries such as Gabriele D'Annunzio, Jules Massenet, Pietro Mascagni, Giacomo Puccini, and Giuseppe Martucci. Today, the hall continues to host significant cultural and musical events. Visitors are afforded the unique privilege of viewing the splendid Trevi Fountain directly from Sala Dante's windows.
