About the Event
Escape to a world of enchanting melodies and masterful performances with the Duo Roverelli Braconi: Piano for Four Hands at the Facoltà Valdese di Teologia. This unique event promises a remarkable evening filled with passion and skill as two exceptional pianists come together to breathe life into classic compositions.
Duo Roverelli Braconi
The artistic bond between Mirko Roverelli and Monaldo Braconi began in the womb of the Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where both served as collaborative pianists.
Their musical affinity immediately led the duo to successfully tackle the important repertoire for choir and piano four hands or two pianos, turning their attention to ambitious projects such as countless performances of Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana,' Igor Stravinsky's Les Noces, and Gioacchino Rossini's Petite Messe Solemnelle under the baton of renowned conductors such as Norbert Balatsch, Andrea Faidutti, Ciro Visco, and Piero Monti.
During the last chamber music season of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, they performed the world premiere of Matteo D'Amico's Les Nuages for choir, four‐hand piano, and cello, conducted by Andrea Secchi.
This collaboration has allowed the duo to tackle repertoires even without a choir. As founders of the 'PianoFortissimoPercussionEnsemble' group, composed of two pianos and percussion, Roverelli and Braconi have prepared and performed a repertoire ranging from the great Americans such as Gershwin, Bernstein, and Copland, to the French such as Ravel and Bizet, and the Spanish, arousing great enthusiasm from audiences everywhere.
Of particular note is their performance of W. A. Mozart's Concerto K 465 for two pianos and orchestra at the Parco della Musica in Rome, conducted by Carlo Rizzari, which can be viewed on YouTube.
The two also often meet on stage as conductor and soloist, coming together once again to tackle great masterpieces from the repertoire for piano and orchestra. Noteworthy performances include Sergei Rachmaninov's Second Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, Franz Liszt's First Concerto, Ludwig van Beethoven's Third Concerto, and, in the upcoming 2025‐2026 season, Edward Grieg's Concerto in A minor for Piano and Orchestra.
