Opera da Camera di Roma has the honor of inviting you to an exclusive concert performance of Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca, performed by Italian soloists with piano accompaniment.
This special event is part of a series of intimate operatic concerts that this year will take place in unique palaces and prestigious concert halls. These extraordinary interiors, renowned for their exceptional acoustics and distinctive atmosphere, will provide the perfect setting for this dramatic story of love, jealousy, and sacrifice.
Excerpts from Tosca will be presented in a concert version, allowing the audience to fully focus on the emotions, voices, and Puccini’s music. The audience will hear the most beautiful arias and duets interpreted by artists who regularly perform on Italian and European opera stages.
The love story of the singer Tosca and the painter Cavaradossi is considered one of the most famous tales in the history of opera. It is a musical story of great love, bloody crime, and tragic sacrifice.
The action of Tosca takes place in Rome in the year 1800. The singer Floria Tosca loves the painter Mario Cavaradossi, but their relationship is threatened by the ruthless chief of police, Baron Scarpia. For helping an escaped political prisoner, Cavaradossi is captured and sentenced to death. The price for his life is his beloved Tosca. The singer kills Baron Scarpia, yet his revenge reaches the lovers even after his death.
