Verdi's Un ballo in Maschera: Opéra National de Paris
About the Event
Experience Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera in a production by Gilbert Deflo under the musical direction of Bertrand de Billy.
Verdi's dramatic opera was inspired by the assassination of the King of Sweden, Gustave III, in 1792 at a masked ball. Due to reasons of censorship, Verdi had to transpose the setting of his own masked ball to Boston at the end of the 17th century. Director Gilbert Deflo kept the American setting for this production, with the action taking place in monumental sets.
