Thomas Dunford & Keyvan Chemirani: Salle Cortot
Paris, Salle Cortot — Main Hall
About the Event
It is no longer a discovery: Baroque and traditional musicians share an aesthetic culture characterised by freedom and the exciting art of improvisation, one cannot exist without the other. Equally at ease in one repertoire as in the other, two immense virtuosos and long‐time companions join forces once again to break down barriers. Proving that music is one, as long as we free ourselves from the shackles of conformity, Thomas Dunford on the theorbo and Keyvan Chemirani on Iranian percussion (including the zarb) move from Dowland (Lachrymæ) and Marais (Les Voix humaines) to Bach (an arrangement of the Suite for solo cello BWV 1007) to the Beatles (Something, Blackbird), not forgetting their own compositions.
