About the Event

During the Renaissance, the Sistine Chapel emerged as a dazzling musical beacon, thanks not only to the composers but also to the singers employed there, with the former naturally composing to showcase the latter’s unparalleled abilities. The greatest genius of this golden age was undoubtedly Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose Olympian polyphony masterfully highlighted the liturgical texts set to music, consolidating an illustrious tradition that Gregorio Allegri crowned with an incomparable masterpiece, his legendary *Miserere*, with its stratospheric high notes.

Peter Phillips and his Tallis Scholars present a Mass service featuring major works by Palestrina, including motets by masters all associated with the Sistine Chapel. It goes without saying that this ensemble will display the incredible vocal perfection for which it is renowned.
