The Gesualdo Six: Oratoire du Louvre
Paris, Eglise de l'Oratoire du Louvre — Main Hall
About the Event
Radiant Dawn invites us to discover the beauty of different light spectra through music. This programme takes its name from a work by James MacMillan, whose diaphanous textures pay homage to the geniuses of English Renaissance polyphony. Naturally, Thomas Tallis and Robert White, but also Hildegard von Bingen, take their majestic place in a sumptuous soundscape that gives pride of place to contemporary composers. Thus, we discover with emotion the suspended beauty of Alec Roth's Night Payer or the alternately tender and anxious dissonances of Eleanor Daley's Grandmother Moon.
With their flawless cohesion and pure beauty of tone, The Gesualdo Six are the ideal performers for these indescribable works. They are joined by a distinguished guest, trumpeter Matilda Lloyd, whose absolutely pure sound truly resonates like a seventh voice.
