Siegfried: Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées
Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées — Main Hall
About the Event
Yannick Nézet‐Seguin pursues his Wagnerian odyssey with Siegfried.
Siegfried is the third of the four dramas in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, a huge epic devoted to the quest for the mystery of origins, comprising a prologue and three days, 15 hours of music, and an orchestra of some 125 musicians. Wagner broke off from writing Siegfried in order to compose Tristan and Isolde and Die Meistersinger, and did not resume writing until seven years later. Many elements from these two operas can be found in Siegfried, including the ecstatic love duet between Brünnhilde and Siegfried in Act III.
