Pierre Hantaï at Salle Cortot
Paris, Salle Cortot — Main Hall
About the Event
Pierre Hantaï plays a wonderful harpsichord concert with pieces by Bach, Scarlatti and Händel in the prestigious Salle Cortot in Paris.
The year 1685 saw the birth of three of the greatest geniuses of the Baroque era: Domenico Scarlatti, Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel. In Italy, Scarlatti championed a bold and virtuosic literature for the keyboard, not without Iberian influences. In Germany, Händel built sound architectures of unequalled perfection, relying on an art of counterpoint that was to become a milestone. At the crossroads of the Italian, German and English worlds, the third synthesises the best of the various European currents to deliver an eminently personal and theatrical work.
Drawing on his considerable experience and knowledge, Pierre Hantaï masterfully conveys the eloquence of the harpsichord repertoire left to us by these three giants.
