About the Event
Like a taut thread stretching across Europe from west to east, the Orient Express once connected Paris to Istanbul. The launch of new trains in 2027 invites passengers to relive this legendary journey on a musical journey. The journey begins on the banks of the Seine, with Ravel in 1932, the composer traveled on the Orient Express with Marguerite Long, the composer of the delicate *Tombeau de Couperin*. The train then glides toward Munich, where Mozart’s Quartet with Oboe was performed for the first time, before passing through Vienna and Bucharest and reaching the Bosphorus… Here, the dreamlike Orient unfolds, the final leg of the journey.
*Sang de printemps*, the new work by Iranian composer Farnaz Modarresifar, weaves connections between Western art music and Persian classical music. Inspired as much by the freedoms that travel offers as by the way her own experiences remain shaped by the realities of her homeland, she offers a contemporary vision of the connection between East and West, between dream, memory, and reality.
