Ophélie Gaillard: Cello Tango at Salle Cortot
Paris, Salle Cortot — Main Hall
About the Event
Along with jazz, Argentine tango is certainly the musical genre that infuses the entire twentieth‐century repertoire, its great geniuses (Piazzolla and Ginastera first and foremost) building superb bridges between popular (one naturally thinks of the immense Carlos Gardel, symbol of the love that France has always had for tango) and learned practices. Even in the most erudite scores, the composers preserve a typical fragrance, with in particular that choreographic bounce that is part of the very essence of tango.
A great virtuoso who passionately defends all the repertoires, from La cumparsita to Volver or Libertango, Ophélie Gaillard invites us to visit this Argentina, which has always been with her, in all its diversity, surrounded by exceptional musicians who express themselves here in their family tree.
