About the Event
Nelson Goerner, a discreet but highly talented piano master, returns solo with a program that reflects his personality. He begins by returning to his roots with Bach's Toccata, followed by Schubert's grandiose Sonata No. 19, before moving on to Ravel's waltzes, “the delicious and ever‐renewed pleasure of a useless occupation,” according to the famous phrase coined by the poet Henri de Régnier. All that was missing was the “exotic” touch of Albéniz and excerpts from his Iberia to make this a first‐rate evening of piano music.
Program
- Johann Sebastian Bach – Toccata BWV 911
- Franz Schubert – Piano Sonata No. 19 in C minor, D. 958
- Maurice Ravel – Valses nobles et sentimentales
- Isaac Albéniz – Málaga, Jerez, Eritaña, livre IV d’Iberia
