In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Mozart at Paris's treasured and world‐renowned Eglise de Saint Germain des Pres.
This Requiem is one of the most iconic musical works of Western culture. At the age of 35, Mozart was exhausted and ill. Perhaps, in response to a strange commission, he wrote the Requiem in anticipation of his own death, which he knew was near: he died while writing measure number 8 of the Lacrimosa. These deeply moving circumstances lend the Requiem a unique and poignant depth. One can sense in it the testament of a man at the end of his life who, faced with the mystery of death, conveys to us a spiritual experience of exceptional intensity, as well as a message of trust, light, and peace. Other masterpieces often associated with this Requiem include the “Dopminum” and the irreplaceable “Ave Verum.”
It is with passion and emotion that the Paul Kuentz Orchestra and Choir, along with soloists Kristina Vahrenkamp, Stéphanie Doré, Ulysse Mbenzu, and Philippe Eon, will perform this Requiem for you tonight, under the direction of Paul Kuentz.
