About the Event

In the Nordic countries, the long nights were once punctuated by gatherings that blended storytelling, singing, and music. François Lazarevitch and Les Musiciens de Saint‐Julien recreate the atmosphere of these shared moments, inviting us on one of those captivating journeys they are so skilled at crafting. We are immersed in this deeply poetic world by the sound of the hardingfele—a Norwegian violin with sympathetic strings played by Britt Pernille Frøholm—which blends with the rich tones of period instruments. Navigating between traditional heritage and contemporary expression with beautiful vocal freedom, Ingeborg Dalheim breathes new life into traditions of great poetic richness: kveding and folkviser (folk ballads), as well as kulning, the song of the shepherdesses used to gather the flocks in the mountains. As the music unfolds, we discover stories that remind us of the close bond between humans and nature.
